Well we’ve featured quite a lot of independent movies recently so how about a change of pace? Today we’re going to tell you about a new, up and coming author who goes by the name of WD Lady.

WD’s debut novel is called Nightmarish Reality. Now although it isn’t necessarily horror (although there were a few horror elements) the series itself is horror-related and will definitely appeal to the majority of you hardcore readers.

So here’s a bit about the book:

IMAGINE EVERY NIGHT YOU WISH NEVER TO FALL ASLEEP… for once you close your eyes the unthinkable horrors plague your mind, your sanity. Eighteen-year-old Zander Russell suffers from constant nightmares. He doesn’t know what is causing them and why his nightmares seem so real, resulting in cuts and bruises all over his body. Seemingly an average student, Zander goes to a typical high school where he’s constantly bullied and teased.  The nightmares occur more frequently in the day, blurring the lines between reality and mere illusions. When Zander meets and befriends a stranger, he begins to realize how truly different he is. It’s only a matter of time before the dark demons of the past suddenly begin to reveal themselves.   Armed with a pen and a notebook, Zander records what is happening to him as he tries to put back the missing pieces of the puzzle. He must stop the nightmares before they start to take on a life of their own. Is it too late for Zander to control what he’s unleashed into the world?

Sounds awesome right? Well I thought so too, so I went online and bought a copy! (Links below) Now I could write a few sentences about what makes it a good book and why you guys ought to buy it, but instead I’m going to tell you what happened on the first morning I started reading it.

It was a typical Thursday morning; I was late for work. Fortunately, so was my train and when I arrived at the station I managed to hop aboard with a bunch of disgruntled passengers all complaining about the delay. So I found a seat and decided to make a start on WD’s book. Well it only took a few minutes before I was submerged into her world. Her character portrayal is flawless, the plot is well thought out and the book itself is constructed in a way that keeps you on your toes. (dancing back and forth in time) In all literal terms, I couldn’t put it down. I had no idea what was going on around me – the train could have been on fire and I wouldn’t have known!

I’m sure you know what happens next…

I MISSED MY BLOODY STOP!

The train ground to a halt and sat motionless for a few minutes whilst I was sat like a zombie drooling over these virtual pages. Luckily I came to a natural end in the book and just happened to look up… Not before the train started to set off again though…

You should have seen me – I was like an Olympic sprinter. I sprung out of my seat and raced down to the doors (stumbling over a briefcase some idiot left in the aisle) I pulled the emergency stop just before the train had left the platform. Well as you can guess I wasn’t the most popular person after that. Following a stern talking to by the train guy and listening to the yells and obscenities of my fellow passengers, I was allowed to leave and head to work ten minutes late.

So my dear readers. I think it’s safe to say that this book should come with a disclaimer – WARNING! READ RESPONSIBLY. USE ONLY WHEN MOTIONLESS AND WHEN YOU HAVE A GOOD FEW HOURS ON YOUR HANDS…

I know many of you like a good book to read, and if you’re going to pick up anything new this summer – I’d recommend Nightmarish Reality. It’s definitely the start of great things to come.
