We have a REAL exclusive for you this time guys, and it comes in the form of Bill Oberst Jr.’s new project Lord Bateman!

We are the ONLY site based in the UK that has been granted this access – So as you can imagine, we feel extremely privileged! We, like so many of Bill’s ever-growing fan-base, believe this guy is one of the top indie horror actors out there. His talent far exceeds many of Hollywood’s big paid stars and it’s an injustice that he hasn’t yet received the worldwide recognition he deserves. With this in mind, we hope to promote and highlight his career in any way we can. And from that picture above you can see why! It’s enough to make your skin crawl.

Fans of Bill Oberst Jr. will be well aware of his ability to portray the creepy, obsessive, psychopath (as seen in Take This Lollipop) but these test shots just show that his portrayal of horror characteristics knows no bounds!

I mean look at this guy!

Now think back to the horror movies that have come out on the big screen in the past 12 months – Do any of them even come close to the potential of this movie? I think not – Lord Bateman is not a sequel, it’s not a remake and it’s not cashing in on any pre-established horror icons…

Anyway we’ve given you a few of the exclusive pictures, here’s the exclusive press release:

“Erebus Horror has been granted a UK exclusive from Los Angeles, including test shots which depict actor Bill Oberst Jr. as the demonic Lord Bateman for his in-development film project of the same name. The shots, showing Oberst as a bile-drooling creature with charred red skin and horns, are a sneak preview of a much larger photo set to be released on Halloween.
Oberst, whose performance in the horror-themed Facebook application ‘Take This Lollipop‘ won a Daytime Emmy Award in June, told Erebus Horror that while the pics here are “just a tease,” they represent the tone of the entire Lord Bateman photo set to come on Halloween. “I wanted to run a make-up test anyway, so we got two gorgeous models, Anna Christina Pullig and Alice Orozco, to interact with the demon. The shots that came out of the session are truly skin-crawling. The release of the full photo set with the female models on October 31 will also mark the roll-out of our feature film proposal to investors.”
The Lord Bateman project sprang from Oberst’s interest in depictions of demonic beings by medieval artists and from his often-expressed desire to play a classic cinematic monster. “Frankly, my sympathies have always been with the monster,” he says, “and I’m tired of seeing demons who look like pretty people with FX contact lenses. Maybe it’s time for the return of the red devil.”
Oberst says the current screenplay outline places the action in 16th century Europe. “Lord Bateman is a man of royal lineage who is plagued by visions of himself as a demon. He comes to believe that he actually is a demon, cursed to live a human existence as punishment for some infraction down below. The question is whether he is right…or delusional. Of course, to his victims it matters little.” The actor says Lord Bateman will have both a hellishly brutal side and a gentle, sophisticated side evoking classic dark literary characters like Robert Louis Stevenson’s Henry Jekyll and Edgar Allan Poe’s Roderick Usher. “I’m a big fan of classic Hammer horror,” says Oberst, “and we’re adding a little hellfire to that vibe.” The Lord Bateman concept is based on original ideas from Oberst’s ‘Anatomy Of Fear’ and the novella ‘Cipher In The Sun’ by Ed Thomas, who shot the session with fellow photographer Spencer Filichia.
Lord Bateman is currently in the early script stage and is in active pre-development in association with Dismal Productions. Erebus Horror readers will get the full Lord Bateman photo set a little earlier than anyone else in the U.K., says Oberst “I’m a big supporter of what Erebus Horror is trying to do for the genre…and being named Erebus’ King Of Horror earlier this year was a big boost to my career. I’m proud to support the site.”

Erebus Horror has been around for nearly two years now, and in that time we have established a growing number of followers with the same blood-thirsty interests as ourselves. So I’m sure the majority of you will be making a note of this movie and will show your support to make the investor’s decision a little easier (although let’s face it – If you had the cash you’d invest too right?)  And why wouldn’t you? This project looks great! And yet how do we know that the next 12 months will see another wave of terrible ‘horror’ movies on the big screen.

I fail to see why the industry overlooks projects such as Lord Bateman… If only they would take a chance on them… just once… They would realise how awesome these flicks are. More people would back them, and our horror genre would be saved from circling the drain.

It’s a great dream right? Well my friends its possible! All we have to do is support great projects like these. Share a link on your Facebook/ Twitter pages. Give your own reviews. Tell your friends, family or strangers in the street (y’know if you don’t mind the terrified stares…) If every horror fan shows their support for these projects, movie producers will eventually take notice. I know they must be the dumbest fucks in the world, but even a blind man could see that the horror genre is in decline. The solution? Take a chance on the underdogs.

I urge you all to help us. Let’s get the word out. Lord Bateman is going to rock! It would be a shame for so many to miss out just because they never heard about it. Educate your peers. You heard it here first!

We’ll bring you another exclusive real soon.
