Well last night I ventured into a little town called Hartlepool to watch The Circus of Horrors! The drive there was okay, but could I hell find a place to park! Anyway, I got there in the nick of time, only to find out I had a rubbish seat! Luckily, the venue wasn’t that big so I was still quite close in a way.
Now some of you may know the Circus of Horrors from Britain’s Got Talent (see videos below) But if you don’t I’ll give you a quick update.
The Circus of Horrors are a bunch of performers led by ‘The Undead Ringmaster’ Doctor Haze. Acts include a sword-swallower, a bunch of contortionists, acrobats, trapeze artist and a crazy dwarf. Throw in a huge amount of fire, explosions, scantily clad females (and a bit of full-frontal male nudity if you’re into that kinda thing…) and you’ve got yourself a great night.
The show was filled with dramatic stunts/scenes, comedy elements and a great rock n roll soundtrack!
Admittedly, there were a few let-downs. The fake aspect of some stunts was painfully obvious, but as the majority of the audience were drunk, I don’t think many noticed. Another let down for me was the time-waster acts that were used to try to fill up the show. There weren’t many, but I assume since it wasn’t the full show (Hartlepool Town Hall is a small venue which resulted in the group performing The Freaks and Feathers show rather than The Ventriloquist as shown everywhere else) they had to accommodate.
Overall though I thought it was a good night and just goes to show how Horror is starting to re-emerge in popular culture. I wish the group every success in the future and hope they grow to greater fame.
Now you all know how you can help – Spread the word!
Watch the videos and tell others about it. It is YOU who can make a difference.
Check out the two videos from Britain’s Got Talent for a taster of what the Circus of Horrors are all about. (Bear in mind that the show was toned down for a family audience, the ACTUAL show is much more gruesome and fun!)
Okay ignore the comments at the end there because lets face it - who are those guys to judge? You’ve got a failed TV actor with a drink problem, you’ve got a comedian, you’ve got some random woman who is borderline celebrity (if that) … and then you got Simon Cowell - Enough said.
As a horror fan, you’ve got more knowledge than all of those ‘judges’ so decide for yourself.
But as I witnessed one of their shows last night, take it from me – They’re awesome.
Spread the word and let’s get this element of Horror the recognition it deserves!
