All quiet on the Erebus Horror Front

Posted in General with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on May 23, 2012 by Erebus Horror

Well it’s been a while since our last post and you may have wondered what we’ve been up to…

Quite a lot actually…

We’ve finally caught up with our backlog of promises and favours (About bloody time!) All content from now on will be as and when we get requests. (I should point out that if one of us has agreed to do a feature for you, which has not yet been posted, feel free to send us a ‘friendly’ reminder…)

However, now that we’re up to date, it’s time for us to take a step back for a while. We’ve got a lot of work to do in order to elevate Erebus Horror to new, previously unseen, heights and this means we’ll have to reduce our posts/features etc.

We’re still gonna be around. You may see the odd post every now and again, and we’ll still have a regular presence on Facebook/Twitter, we’re just going to be busy with preparations for the time being.

Feel free to continue requesting features to be posted and still drop us a line at any time and we’ll get back to you.

Also, keep submitting those images for our logo competition. They’re looking great! There’s a lot of talent out there.

Hopefully the next time I post something it will be to tell you guys about which avenue we have chosen to take Erebus Horror.

Keep checking back (or subscribe if you want to save yourself the time) and hopefully join us when we re-launch

It won’t be long. I promise…

Competition Result (July)

Posted in Competition with tags , , on July 22, 2011 by Erebus Horror

Wow this one was a hard one! I will definitely have to make the cryptic clues easier next month. I’ve had loads of wrong answers this month (SHOE was my favourite – how you came up with that I’ll never know)

Anyway the new Horror Queen is:

Dianna_Mcheck!!!

She correctly guessed the answer as CROW. Here’s how it was done.

Clue#1                    Wishmaster

Clue#2                    Candyman

Clue#3                    Resident Evil

Clue#4                    Omen

Descramble the initials and of course you get the word CROW

Congratulations to Dianna who will be featured in my latest novel! She will be a mild-mannered nurse who is brutally slaughtered and eaten by a zombie, only to come back as one of the undead later in the book. Not only that, but she will also receive a free copy of the novel when (and if) it gets published!

To everyone else who took part – apologies. The final clue may have been a bit sneaky, but check back for the next competition which will start at the beginning of August. You never know, next month it might be YOU that steals Dianna’s crown!

Code Letter #4 (July)

Posted in Competition with tags , , on July 22, 2011 by Erebus Horror

So here it is; the final clue for July.

Not sure whether this one is extremely hard or extremely easy but I guess you’ll let me know right? If you haven’t been able to crack one of the clues then fear not; you can still guess the word with the other three letters you’ve obtained.

To conclude July we’ve got SAY WHAT YOU SEE!

Just check out the cryptic image below and name that film! Once you know it, descramble your letters to make a horror-related word and let me know asap. First person who gives me the word wins!

Good Luck!

Okay apparently this 1976 horror movie clue is a little too trivial so here’s a hint: Look at the clothes in the picture. Which gender traditionally wear them?

I’ll give you 30mins before posting another hint… Hope it helps

Code Letter #3 (July)

Posted in Competition with tags , , , on July 15, 2011 by Erebus Horror

Sorry about the delay with this one folks – Computer problems are a bitch!

http://erebushorror.wordpress.com/2011/05/30/competition/ if you need a reminder!

Anyway here’s the third clue – Easy? Hard? Only you can decide. It’s time for SCREENSHOT TRIVIA!

Take a look at this screenshot from a popular horror flick and as always make note of the first initial.

Girl in a water tank – Cool huh?

Don’t forget the final clue will be posted next Friday (Will definitely be on schedule this time I promise!)

Good luck

Code Letter #2 (July)

Posted in Competition with tags , , on July 8, 2011 by Erebus Horror

How did you find last week’s clue? Easy right? Well here’s code letter #2

It’s time for TRIVIA!!!

Same rules apply but if you need a reminder you can find them here: http://erebushorror.wordpress.com/2011/05/30/competition/

Here’s a bit of Trivia for you to unravel and a sneaky visual aid:

The area in which the film took place was (and still is) overrun by gangs, who allowed the crew to film there on the condition that they themselves could appear in the movie as extras.

Yeah I know this is probably still considered an easy one but they’ll get harder I promise!

Good luck and look out for the clue next Friday!

Code Letter #1 (July)

Posted in Competition with tags , , on July 1, 2011 by Erebus Horror

Here it is! The first clue for the July competition!

Same rules apply but if you need a reminder you can find them here: http://erebushorror.wordpress.com/2011/05/30/competition/

I decided to start the month off easy and gradually increase the difficulty towards the end. So without further delay, here is the first clue. It’s a scene from a popular horror flick, all you gotta do is work out the film, and make note of the first letter. It’s that easy!

As always, once you’ve worked out the movie (Did I say work out? Of course you will have known as soon as you saw the pic) take the first initial and write it down for next week’s clue.

Good luck!

Competition Result!

Posted in Competition with tags , , , on June 22, 2011 by Erebus Horror

Well its been a long month but I knew you could do it! I’ve had a few wrong answers but eventually the code was solved by this month’s horror queen

Sarah Burton6 !!!

She correctly guessed the answer as PAIN. Here’s how it was done.

Clue#1             Nightmare on Elm Street

Clue#2             Pet Sematary

Clue#3             Alphabet Killer

Clue#4             I Know What You Did Last Summer

Descramble the initials and of course you get the word PAIN.

Congratulations to Sarah who will be featured in my latest novel! She will be a crazed zombie who takes a chunk out of one of the main characters, before going on to be slaughtered in the concluding chapters! She will also receive a free copy of the novel when (and if) it gets published.

To all those who took part – Good try but you need to be quicker!

Best of luck for the next competition which will start at the beginning of July with hopefully some better prizes on offer.

Keep checking back for additional content and you never know; next month it might be YOU that steals Sarah’s crown!

Code Letter #4

Posted in Competition with tags , , on June 21, 2011 by Erebus Horror

We’re finally here; the last letter to make up your code word.

Once again, if you’re new you can read the rules here: http://erebushorror.wordpress.com/2011/05/30/competition/

This week it’s a screenshot from another well-known horror flick. Guess the movie, take the first letter, add it to the rest you have collected, descramble and send the horror-related code word to me asap. You can post a comment here, message me on Twitter (@erebushorror) or any other way I may have forgotten to mention. Winner is the first person who gives me the code.

Right here it is (VERY easy but I figured you have had a tough month…)

Got it? Good, better get descrambling.

On your marks!   Get set!     GO!

Prize Guidelines

Posted in Competition with tags , , on May 30, 2011 by Erebus Horror

Well since I don’t have any money and hardly any material possessions to give away I thought I’d award one of the following to the worthy victor.

  1. For authors: Purchasing and reviewing one of your books, posting links to your site and copying the review onto Amazon or any other site your book is sold (Let’s just hope you have written a good book eh? :-D )
  2. For businesses, artists, filmmakers etc: Feature a banner, poster or any other type of publicity resource on the blog with a link to your site and a personal review if applicable.
  3. For everyone else: The opportunity to appear in one of my books. You could be a deranged zombie, blood thirsty vampire or flea-ridden werewolf. Alternatively you could be the guy/gal that kills them! Also you will receive a free copy of the book once finished (A very late prize but a reward nonetheless)

The winner will also be given recognition on Twitter as the one who beat the rest and will be awarded the (virtual) horror crown. Your name will be published in the archives on the month you are victorious and if you win more times than anyone else you will be rewarded an extra special prize (TBC) at the end of the 12 month period.

Good Luck!
