One of the creepiest movies of my childhood was Pet Semetary. One of the greatest elements attributed to the movie is the setting, which is integral to the story – a Maine town, with an Indian burial ground that has mysterious, nefarious qualities. Unearthed and Untold – The Path to Pet Semetary is a documentary that delves into the movie, the mythos, and the production that went into making the film. John Campopiano and Justin White (independent filmmakers with Ocean’s Light Productions) are crafting the definitive film companion to Pet Semetary. Our filmmakers will be delving into the making of the film from two perspectives, but will address many subjects, including the memories of the local communities, and archived footage from local press and media during the films productions; as well as interviewing those who participated in the film, and their devotion and pride in crafting one of Stephen King’s most memorable tales.
Pet Semetary has the distinction of being the first book authored by Stephen King that I read, as well as the first Stephen King movie that I saw, and while no specific date has been set for its 2013 release, I am looking forward to watching this film, just to get new perspectives on one of the creepiest horror films from the 80′s.
Here’s a quick announcement about a great new horror flick that we’ve been informed about called Little Reaper
It’s a quirky horror/comedy about the grim reaper’s difficult teenage daughter.
It stars Athena Baumeister and John Paul Ouvrier, with John Michael Herndon and Katharine Stapleton. I wrote, produced and directed it under the banner of my company Dream Seekers Productions. Danny Derakhshan is the Executive Producer. Melissa S. Cottingham, Shane Mehigan, Colin Mehigan and Justin Caustillo are the Associate Producers.
You may recall our feature on the horror werewolf movie called “The Beast” starring Bill Oberst Jr. Well Little Reaper is the next movie by the same guys at Dreamseekers Productions.
Based on his previous works, Peter Dukes is constantly going from strength to strength, and I’m sure we aren’t the only ones who eagerly anticipate the release of Little Reaper. As soon as it’s released we’ll post a review for you guys, but until then you’ll have to make do with these exciting stills.
Keep an eye out folks. Little Reaper is just around the corner!

Gut is a film that delves into the evolution of obsession, and the permutations that occur with the individual. What one finds perverse can quickly become an object of indefinable addiction, having the person revulsed, yet compelled to continue their degenerate habits. What one finds repulsive, another may find alluring, and of course, human nature compels us to watch these things, often in spite of our emotions of disgust.
It is the tale of Tom, an average family man; he has his home, his wife, daughter, a steady job, and a longtime friend, Dan, who shares an office with him. But Tom wants to move away, to get a change of scenery for his family, to flee the banality that he feels his life has become inundated with. Tom’s friend, Dan, is feeling his joy wane, and wants to rekindle the friendship he and Tom once shared. It is this desire that drives Dan to ask Tom over to watch a movie… one that he assures Tom will be well worth the time. The film: a home-made video showing a bound woman, and her eventual murder. The biggest question, was the killing real?
Henceforth, the film takes you on a journey, through Tom’s perspective, as at first being repulsed by what he has seen, yet becoming an obsession, as it starts to affect his relationships with both his wife and daughter, as well as with his friend, Dan.
The quality of the film was surprising, and I must say that for the most part, the acting was believable, both in the casual relationship between Tom and Dan, but executed very well showing the realtionship between Tom, his wife, and their little girl. Note, this film is quite erotic, playing again with the fine line between sexuality and base perversity.
Unfortunately, the pacing of the film is perhaps the biggest detriment. What could have been compressed into a 30 – 45 minute short film felt to me like something that was stretched to fill in an obligatory “feature film” time allotment. The opening of the film shows us one thing, then it takes quite some time for the plot to actually progress to the titular moment: the video, and it’s nefarious affects on the psyches of our protagonist. Once that occurs, the pacing then slows again, until ultimately the finale… which was again a little disheartening to me as it seemed to take too long to actually bring all the conflict to a climax. Once the climax hits, though, the film took on a much darker tone, giving better depth and horror to the plot. Yet, I hearken back to my complaint, that you have to sit through most of the movie to enjoy this finale, and many viewers may not be willing to invest the time.
Bottom line, this movie is another take on the whole sadism and torture porn theme, while managing to stay original in it’s concept and delivery. If you like the more humanistic (read: no supernatural elements) horror films that display voyeuristic depravity, that explore the perverse limits of human nature, then I can recommend it; although I have seen better, the good thing is, I have seen a lot worse, too.
Bath Salt Zombies might be one of my newest, favorite movies. It has the most absolutely perfect balance of comedy and faces being torn THE FUCK off. It’s a completely different type of zombie movie, because only when you’re tripping balls do you actually become a zombie. Smoke some bath salts, eat someones face. Wake up, smoke some bath salts, chow down on someones intenstines. Wash, rinse, repeat motherfuckers… Round of applause for the lamest line I’ve ever written.
The movie opens with a hilariously animated explanation of what bath salts chemically are, how they work, and what happens when you’re high as a kite one them. The movie basically follows around a crusty punk all through his addiction to bath salts. I know, totally lame and not really possible, but that’s the fucking point! You have this DEA officer chasing after the source of these bath salts, and whenever he comes around a straight up action movie style fight sequence breaks out. As I was watching, I hated this pig but then towards the end I guess I started to feel sorry for him, since he is on the side of good, justice, and doughnuts (not to mention he’s pretty fucking hilarious). During this movie you’re going to laugh then watch someone get ripped apart, all while listening to sweet, sweet, glorious music. And it’s going to keep happening throughout the entire movie, and you’re going to be pissed when it’s all over. This is the first movie in a long time where I can say I appreciated the different, not exactly typical, camera angles and filters used because it just added to the hysteria.
I have no other words except: go get the effin’ movie! If you love comedy, blood, and guts, with loving, tender touches of insanity than you won’t be disappointed. I don’t usually do this and I’m sorry to commit to this so quickly but… I love you Bath Salt Zombies.

The Download Horror is a new take on comedic horror. Robbo and Dougie are watching a movie “Sacrificed”. You too get to watch along, with the added bonus of their hilarious commentary about lesbians, boobs, and their prayers for a lesbian orgy, when they’re not making fun of the movie. The actual movie that you’re watching is about the chick you see above, sacrificing people for Sibalinka, an idol that has taken over her life. From the moment she was handed it, and the dagger you see in her hand, she has had no problem hacking up people around her. She throws an axe into her husbands face and chopsticks into her friends’ eyes, both of which come back as zombies. This is an okay-slightly-boring horror movie with awesome zombies, lots-o boobs, and two hilarious guys talking through it the whole time.
As I watched the movie, I found it was revolving around Robbo and Dougie talking, not the actual images in front of me, which felt a bit strange. I did not enjoy the “Sacrificed” movie (aside from the chopstick zombie), but I enjoyed the fuck out of listening to those two talk. They are the Beavis and Butthead of horror and I loved them! They are actually the producers of the movie, but they really need their own television show. Seriously, you wouldn’t even mind these two talking through an entire movie in a movie theater because they’re the that entertaining.
Hate Crime is a disturbing film about Nazi skinheads violently torturing an innocent family. I don’t even think the movie was one minute into it before these fuckers in black stormed this unsuspecting families new home. It’s extremely vulgar and they definitely weren’t afraid to cross any lines. The entire movie was shot in first person (i.e The Blair Witch whatnots), but it was done extremely well. The acting and the filming itself was done great, but of course I have something to pick at. Something about the scenes of these family members being tied up and scared shitless just wasn’t doing it for me. Something about those ropes was painfully obvious that they were tied really loose, making it look a little cheesy. But I understand there’s only so much you can do to show that this family is trapped and suffering before you actually start hurting your actors.
I felt like the subject matter was great, but I found myself getting bored from time to time.. okay, I might have just realized that I’m totally fucked and should seek therapy as soon as possible. Check out Hate Crime if you want to feel like a terrible person for voluntarily watching this movie.
Welcome back everyone! Have you guys missed me? I’ve missed you — I mean that in the least creepy way it is possible for a complete stranger on the Internet to say that to you. It’s been a minute since I’ve had a chance to write something new for you guys, so hopefully you won’t be disappointed.
Bigger & Badder is a short film created by Richard Wantuch. What we have here is a drug deal gone bad because of a werewolf, don’t you hate when that happens? A kid named Peter goes on his first “delivery” for his dickhead of a boss Trevor (seriously, when you watch this you will hate the shit out of him). Peter and another man enter the bathroom together, in a totally not weird way at all, to exchange the package. The swap is cut short when an old man barges into the bathroom acting fifty shades of crazy, and eats Peters associate.
All in all I thought it was pretty good, but I do have something I need to get off of my chest. It’s 2013 and we still have not found a way to make werewolf costumes look less shitty! It’s a fact and ya’ll know it. The werewolf did look lame, but I wouldn’t feel bad about it, because I think 99.9% of every werewolf costume looks fucking cheesy (if you go to my blog you can actually see a picture of me in my werewolf costume this year, and yes my boyfriend was a slutty little red riding hood). I really enjoyed the ending and it made me wish it were a full-length film. If we work together, we can help fight against shit werewolf costumes. 2013: The Year Of Change For The Werewolf – YES WE CAN!
Klagger is a short film directed and written by Casey Crow. The film opens with an average guy working his average job on an average day. He arrives at an abandoned factory and he soon learns it had been shut down because a worker died there. As for the rest of you, I know what you’re thinking, but really it is a great film! When I’m watching a horror movie that is extremely suspenseful I practically lose my mind when the director has made the call for a random, slightly-creepy-but-wasn’t-created-to-be-creepy song to start playing, while this poor soul thought they were all alone (i.e. The Strangers, which is one of my all time favorites if you were wondering). It never gets old for me. Before you know it you finally see the factory worker that has been terrorizing and killing souls that regretfully entered his crypt. Average guy tries to escape dead guy and then yadda yadda yadda you can figure out the rest for yourselves.
I really liked this film, but the only thing I didn’t care for was the villain. Don’t get me wrong, I thought he was ugly as sin and scary as fuck, but there was just something about him I wished was different. I’m not sure what I was expecting a burned factory worker to look like. I blame Freddy for forcing me to have preconceived notions. But aside from that, I give the director a scorched, oozing high five and a half.
Hey, remember the time that guy in Miami, Florida went crazy and ate some dudes face? The news said that it was because he was high on bath salts. Literally, that day I ran home and packed my “Shits About To Go Down” bag, which included a big ass knife, a roll of toilet paper, a can of corn, a can of chili, and some 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner (the apocalypse is no excuse for bad hair). Okay, my bag sucked I’ll admit it, but I’m working on it. I haven’t heard much about bath salts, until this very moment. Music Video Distributors is releasing a movie sometime in February titled “Bath Salt Zombies”. It looks hilariously cheesy and super bloody. I don’t know how one would do bath salts, but apparently in this movie if you get a bad batch of the stuff you turn into a zombie. As if people getting high off of them isn’t hilarious enough, now the low point of your high you turn into a zombie?! Fan-fucking-tastic. Apparently, the soundtrack to the movie is supposed to be even better with tracks from The Meatmen and The Dwarves, among many others. It has humor, zombies, and a badass punk soundtrack to it. It’s like all my favorite things were wrapped up nicely and tied with a big, red bow labeled For Siobhan. Is anyone else excited?
After finally getting power back I e-mailed by buddies at Erebus Horror to send me something ASAP to review and jumped for a trilogy of short films by Jeremiah Kipp. Now, if you don’t know who Jeremiah Kipp is here is a little caption from my inbox of some of his work:

Now, down to fuckin’ business, I received 3 links to 3 short films: Crestfallen, Contact, and Drool. I had no idea what to expect, but I was excited to see what was in store for me. Crestfallen and Drool were okay but Contact I felt he could have gone further.
Contact was basically about a girl who freaks out from drugs with her boyfriend, and then reunites with her parents in the end all clean and pretty. I felt that the “junkies”, and especially the drug dealer, were lame. There was a stereotypical guy in a leather jacket who looked like a jerk off (I’m allowed to say that because my boyfriend has that jacket with a huge Ramones patch on the back and he manages to not look like a fool in it), and some kid with his eyes closed looking stupid, who should have been left out of the shot completely, or should have been on the floor pretending to sleep. The drug dealer was a unique character who I appreciated, but not as an actual drug dealer. I’ve never met a drug dealer who wore eye liner and had a penis (I’m assuming that guy was a guy, I could be really fucking off on that one). You don’t know what kind of drug they’re doing, but they’re freebasing it completely naked. With any drug trip there were highs and lows, and I was left wishing the low went way fucking low, like down to the core of the earth low. But all in all I felt like it was shot well and the setting/backdrop for each scene was done well. I really liked the way it went back and forth from the parents waiting at the dinner table and back to their daughter getting fucked up.
Crestfallen was a series of flash backs in the mind of a girl who just slit her wrists in a bathtub (more boobies fellas). I thought it was a really cool concept and there was an aerial shot from above the bathtub tinting the water with her blood — it looked totally disturbing and dark, I loved it.
Drool was an experimental film where you’re left not sure what the fuck went on. It’s just a naked man and woman in a room covered in what I’m assuming is supposed to be drool, but all I kept thinking was it was definitely some kind of lube, so I kept picturing a scene from the movie Old School (“We can only get KY in the 24 oz tubes, industrial size can take up to 3-4 weeks”). The whole time you’re not sure if they’re fuckin’ or fightin’ and it’s weird, but something about it I liked and wanted to see more — how did they get there? what’s happening? where did he go? I kind of liked it, in a weird way and wouldn’t mind seeing it turned into a totally over the top gory, horror flick filled with insanity.
As you can see, not all horror is monsters and cannibals, it can be taken any way.
